After completing school she taught horse riding, Hammarsdale in Natal, after successfully completing her SANEF (South African National Equestrian Federation) examinations. From there she worked at Cathkin Park Hotel in the Drakensberg where her duties included anything from Reservations and Reception, to taking guests on hikes and outrides.

After returning to Durban she got married and in 1988 started working at S.A. Eagle in the Marine Department. After two years she was employed by D.Warne & Associates to manage the cargo portfolio, until Eikos Risk Applications acquired the company.

In her spare time she rides horses, jogs and reads.
